Team Altermatt

We've been home for about 10 days (?) now and everyone has finally settled into a normal sleep schedule. The boys go to bed around 7:30 and sleep until 6:30, which is spectacular. Owen pulled another keep-mom-and-dad-up-for-three-hours-with-random-requests trick last night, but, to maintain our sanity, we're going to tell ourselves that that was a fluke as we prepare for sleep this evening. The sibling rivalry continues, but we're beginning to see some signs that the boys may, someday, play well together. A few days ago, I decided that some social-psychological intervention was in order and Team Altermatt was created. The boys had a great time battling some imagined foe in their purple and green construction paper outfits:

Later that evening, Owen was caught feeding peas (nicely) to Alex! Hope springs eternal.

Speaking of food, Alex likes to eat. A lot. Of anything. Vegetable lasagna. Check. Black bean soup. Check. Corn bread. Check. Tofu. Check. Brownies. Cookies. Whipped cream. Check. Check. Check. One of the few things we've found that he doesn't really like is meat. Woo hoo! We can handle vegetarian around here. :)

Yesterday, shortly after breakfast, Alex and I were playing in his bedroom. Suddenly, he looked at me, grabbed my finger and pulled me toward the stairs. We bumped on our behinds to the first floor and he pulled me toward the kitchen pointing vigorously at the top of the refrigerator where we keep the bananas. I gave him half of one to begin with, turned my back for a second, looked back, and it was gone. I was sure he'd dropped it. Nope. Consumed. He was ready for round two. All of this makes food prep very interesting. A few days ago, Bill was warming up some food in the oven (thanks food train contributors!!) and had Alex in his arms. When he opened the oven and closed it again, Alex seemed stunned he'd actually left the food in there. He started shouting "Ma!" Clearly, he thought his mama would have better sense.

You people don't stand a chance ....

Your boys look great! Glad to see the Altermatt's doing so well. We are finally on more normal sleep cycles here at the Cole house as well. Boy, the jetlag was brutal on the return trip - no one tells you that part! Have a happy, healthy New Year!

Thanks for the update. I can certainly appreciate the effort it takes to find the time and energy! I have no doubt your boys will eventually become best of friends just as our two boys did. Now if we can just convince Jeremy that Leah's not so bad either...

Our little Will is not always super fond of his brother either!! I think I may have team Mongold fight the bad guys in our house as well!! :) The kids look super and I can't wait to see more and more photos of them playing together - because it WILL happen! They will not even remember life without each other. And one day - when they are best friends - you keep these stories to remind them of this time!! :) ha ha ha. And certainly keep those photos of "Team A" close at hand to show the first girlfriends that walk through the door!

So great to hear from you! Lots of love!
