He's Growing Up

On Friday, Owen and I went to the local elementary school to see what kindergarten might be like next fall. He had a great time. He happily tossed bean bags, rolled on the floor, completed a writing worksheet, and took a spelling test. He patiently waited in line while the teacher evaluated the kids' work and beamed with pride when he got a sticker. I think he's going to love going to school.

After a not-so-quick-trip to Lowe's to purchase some ill-timed bathroom-remodeling supplies (what were we thinking??), we decided to give bike riding sans training wheels a try. No problem. He quickly left his mama in the dust.

To celebrate his accomplishments (and drown our bathroom-remodeling sorrows), we headed out to the Chinese restaurant for dinner. On the way there, Owen announced that he isn't going to college. He's going to live in our backyard. In a tent. Forever.

Thank goodness. Perhaps this will make sending him off on the school bus this fall just a wee bit easier.

After seeing the tuition rates of some of the College's that Lizzy is applying to, I think a tent in the backyard is a great idea!

On a serious note, congratulations Owen. You will love school!

Arrhh!!! Lizzy signed into her gmail account on our computer, so the above post looks like it was written by her. This is what you have to look forward to when your boys are teenagers!
